Team Building
Because of the focus on accomplishing mutual goals, cooking can teach cooperation and communication skills, both integral parts of building an effective team as well as helping to turn enemies into friends. Cooking classes also offer hierarchical teams the chance to reverse roles. Managers can be directed by subordinates who, in turn, get a chance to experience the role of being in charge. This can encourage a greater empathy for other positions, leading to a more effective team.
Building an effective team has become a focus in education ranging from grade school to graduate school. From learning to play nice in the sandbox to learning how to work together to formulate a working business model, team building is essential to our educational, personal, and professional success.
